WINTER BAZZAR 12.12.12
In the Fall quarter of 2012, I was blessed with the honor to be the Director of our Fashion Show & Event Production class. From the beginning I knew I was going to have a huge responsibility, leading 30 students into battle as I saw it. Some of the students had never been part of any type of production let alone a fashion show that I was going to make memorable forever. Previous classes have always gone to merchandisers and vendors all over Austin, which is awesome. However, I wanted to take then next step and have garments created specifically for our show.
With a promotional team, staging team, merchandise team, and model committee I knew I had to deligate jobs accordingly to make sure everything went smooth. Within 11 weeks of planning, traveling and organizing, my class produced the Winter Bazzar on 12.12.12 at Lucky Lounge in downtown Austin.
With five mini-shows within one, we showed student designers that created avant garde designs, reconditioned shorts, African printed garb, and hand-made accessories by local designers. Our front row was lined with Stephen Moser and his posse, who also wrote about this show in the Statesman. Ross Bennett also attended with his wife Erin.
To top off this experience for me, I was able to sit in the crowd and watch what would be considered my first fashion show. I am not sure how many producers get to say that, as we usually are behind the scenes making the magic happen. Here are a few picture, however they do not do this event justice.
Special Thanks to my entire team!
Kelly Jondle: Instructor
Kris Deaton: Co-Director
Erin Alexander: Merchandise Chair
