HIP HOP. IS NOT. DEAD.
This specific trend board is one of my favorites. This board was created for a Special Topics class in Winter 2012. For this class we volunteered for SXSW. We also had to forecast what we believed we would see at SXSW based on a music genre. Being that hip-hop is one of my main loves, it was only natural for me to forecast what I believed I would see. Throughout SXSW 2012 I can honestly say this trend board was right on target and has continued into 2013.
JEAN PAUL GAULTIER
This is one of my first boards I felt was at a professional level. This board was created for Current Designers in Spring 2012. I spent hours deciding what designer I was going to do. JPG had 74 looks in his collection and I was given rules to only pick six photos. I shuffled photos back and forth picking six that suited my personality perfectly while maintaining a pleasing aesthetic. Simple, yet sophisticated and edgy.
MULTI-CULTI
This specific trend board was created in Fall ’12 forecasting a trend for Spring 2013. I chose this trend from StyleSite to forecast due to my love of culture. This trend embodies African and Navajo prints, two extremely different cultures. I chose these specific photos to forecast silhouettes and garment styles.
ART DECO
This was also a trend board I created in Fall ’12. This trend however, is forecasting the Fall of 2013. This board is very different than the Multi-Culti trend, with a Great Gatsby influence and a deep rich color palette and classic silhouettes. The photos chose on this board are specifically all pieces of art, something you won’t normally see me use. I used these photos specifically to embody the times this forecast will relate to; 1920s-1930s Art Deco.
ENTROPIA
Entropia was a current project I just finished. This project was for Sales Management in Winter 2013. For this project we created a line out of 5 garments out of our closet and created a whole sales mock-up and presentation as if we were giving this pitch to a buyer. The concept was “Everything black, everything bold.” Entropia is a line for internationally cultured, business savy women. A balance between entropy and utopia.
MON JERE
This board was created in Fall of 2012 for my Manufacturing class. We were required to create our own line, while making a mock-up of pricing. This board is near and dear to my heart as I named my brand after my mother, Jere. This board is a small sample of the direction I will go when I start designing.
