AUSTIN MAGAZINE
In the summer quarter of 2012 I was reluctant to be thrown into Capstone at the last minute possible. Not knowing what this class even was I gladly accepted the chance to be in it, as I know you must be chosen to be in this class. When I walked in to the classroom I found Kelly Jondle as my instructor with 10 girls I genuinely love. When I found out we were creating a magazine I was ecstatic, as was Ivy Jean Holland my partner in this creation. Over the next 11 weeks Ivy, as the Editor In-Chief and I as the Creative Director, we created a 160 page masterpiece shot by Keegan Attlee.
Our vision was simple, we wanted to create a magazine that did nothing but promote our city. So each student was required to pick three topics to write articles on and create four advertisements of their choice. While Ivy controlled the outlines and deadlines, I researched, read, and tore apart dozens of magazines creating a visual mock-up of styles I liked and wanted to shadow. V-Magazine was our winning choice. The layout so simple yet bold; we liked that. We also chose to use a 80 weight gloss paper and to get it special bound. These fine details were crucial in getting the end product we wanted.
I taught myself InDesign over the course with help from other Ai students. Ivy worked tediously on ads, while Keegan focused on editing our feature well which was over 20 hours of shooting. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did making it!

A little BTS video created by Terric Bennett for one of our spreads in the magazine!
